The actual eye test was ok, although I did feel a little talked down to.
However, afterwards I was shown some blue tinted glasses as an option to reduce glare from screens. This was done by a young man who had not tested my eyes and therefore did not know that i only require quite weak reading glasses. I felt his comments were ageist as well as sexist. " When you open the oven door they won't get steamed up." When I said i wouldn't be wearing the glasses whilst cooking he said " well you might be reading a cookery book." Also "when you are playing with your grand children the lenses won't get smeary." Actually, I spend very little time reading cookery books. I have a full time job and lead a busy life! And I am not a granny. I think he thought that I spend my life cooking and playing with grand children. that would be nice!
I would appreciate if the options in booking the appointment were well organised for two reason, 1) an option there opportunity for us to inform them of my Deafness so they can prepare themselves, rather than panic and talking too fast for me to keep up or lipread them, but got there in the end. 2) it would be nice if the organiser will inform me to confirm the appointment, which I did not get till two days before the appointment, the email I received was saying 'will informed me within 78hours...', but instead I received the reminder text two weeks later.
As for the service I'm pleased that it went well.
Stephanie the optician completed an eye examine on myself, my daughter Alex and my son Ben. She was fantastic and could not have been more helpful regarding all our questions. The staff were also very good and spent time helping us and ensuring that we had the best glasses for us etc.
Friendly, efficient, helpful and professional staff, they took time to explain each step.
Very good service.
